Acute pain for postoperative patients in Kuwait Assignment

Acute pain for postoperative patients in Kuwait - denomination ExampleAccording to Strauss and Corbin, research itself is moreover one of four possible sources of the research problem. Research problem can come from literature or detective personal and professional experience. Therefore, I can add that from my clinical experience in Kuwait, I believe that pain assessment is very weak and non clear. Nursing in Kuwait is under development and there are only one or two persons with a PHD in Nursing in Kuwait. This is very disturbing because it shows that the nurses in Kuwait are not as competent as the nurses in other countries. In this light, the aim of my research is to collect evidence based to develop the best practice in Kuwait. Last, there is no good practice or an international assessment which is perfect or universal. 3. Project objectives To explore nurses knowledge of pain assessment To analyze the perceptions of nurses and patients of pain assessment in a Kuwait surgical backing To identify potential factors that could affect how the patients respond to post-operative pain. 4. Research strategy (For example, outline of research methodology, what information/data collection strategies get out you use, where forget you accede participants and what betterment you intend to take to the analysis of information / data generated) Due to the subjectivity of pain experience a qualitative method will be utilise for this study, which seeks to provide a perception of how or why things are as they are. Data will be collected through face-to-face semi-structured interviews with nurses and separately with patients. This is only fitting considering that Hancock (1998) relates that data collection in a qualitative research involves direct encounters with individuals through one to one interviews. In-depth interview allows intensive geographic expedition of a topic with someone who has had related experiences. Open-ended questions will be used during the inte rview. The questions to be asked during the interview are not prepared prior to the interview. The police detective in charge of this exercise formulates the questions during the interview. He/ she ask what they think is in line with the interview and recorded the responses given by the patient. This is in contrast with close-ended questions which whitethorn limit further exploration of the participants experiences. Purposive sampling will be used in this study. Typically the recommended sample for grounded theory is about 20 to 30 participants (Helfand, M., & Freeman, 2008). Determining the sample size depends on the quality and richness of the data. This research will aim to involve as many interviewees as possible to the read that the responses being gathered from the new interviews being conducted are the same as the responses gathered from your prior interviews. Recruitment Once College honourable approval is gained, the researcher will send a formal letter to the hospital a dministration in Kuwait and to the surgical unit supervisor or manager requesting permission to recruit patients and staff from the hospital. Once the approval is gained the researcher will then proceed to place a notice/poster in the surgical ward which will invite volunteers from among surgical nurses and patients who are willing to take part in the research or those who are readily available to become participants of the research. There is no ethical committee in the Kuwait hospital therefore organizational approval will be gained from the Manager. Phase one interviewing the nurses The research will involve registered nurses who give-up the ghost in surgical units. The nurses to be included in the interview should at least possess a bachelors degree from a accept institution of higher learning in nursing and a minimum of three years working experience. The 5 most important ideas of politics and US government Essay

The 5 most important ideas of politics and US government - Essay ExampleAn someone has the innate tendency to resist all that barricade ones self-direction. The connotation of intimacy is so vast that it defies definition. Each one sees a new horizon of liberty. For the American people the concept of liberty is supreme as it stands to protect the essential dignity of an individual. Dr. Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel Prize winning poet, describes the concept of liberty in his beautiful poem Where the Mind is Without Fear. He writes, Where the bew are is without fear and the head is held high, where knowledge is free, where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls, where words come out from the depth of truth, where industrious striving stretches its arms towards perfection, where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way, into the dreary desert sand of dead habit, where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action, i nto that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake. (Tagore, n. p.) This is fantastic explanation about the concept of liberty. In the context of American history, the concept of liberty has undergone many changes as per the demands of time. Each advocate of liberty takes a different line of argument as to its potency and desires to outsmart the previous definitions. Ernest Hemingway in his Autobiography writes . the loss of liberty anywhere in the world is a threat to liberty everywhere (Hemingway).... They are born in poverty. Live in poverty and just head up to the grave in poverty. The African-Americans(slaves) survived only because they had a chance to work(just one aspect of liberty) though on a meager or no salary. Schumacher, E.F in his book Small is Beautiful writesthe chances to work is the greatest of all needs, and even poorly paid and relatively unproductive work is better than idleness( 161).This was the site when the practice of slavery was legal in America . After the abolition of slavery, when African-Americans took to education, they began to comprehend the meaning of liberty. Prior to that, in the land of tyranny how could the African American imagine of equality? Isaiah Berlin in his book Liberty Incorporating Four Essays on Liberty writes It is interesting, but perhaps irrelevant, historical question at what date, and in what circumstances, the notion of individual liberty in this sense first became explicit in the West(p.32, 33).Liberty does not mean people should do what they want to do, but they should do what they are expected to do. Liberty is an individual prerogative subject to the liberty (rights) of others. It is a carefully balanced walk and not a carefree race. It is to act with caution, of all time minding the fact that rights go with duties and responsibilities. Limited Governance The source of the agent for the government is the willingness of the people to make and unmake it. The people cannot dethrone the govern ment in power at will, and yet the people of America are supreme and the government itself is limited to the power given to it by them. The Government of

Biocentric Egalitarianism and Land Ethic Term Paper

Biocentric Egalitarianism and Land Ethic - Term Paper ExampleBiocentric egalitarianism advocates for the repute of non-human beings based on chaste principles and values. These views reflect similar arguments that mankind depend on nature to survive and thus the earth would be a better fix without humans (Jonge 23). However, a critical analysis suggests that the moral duty to respect nature can conflict other moral duties. Kantian Moral Philosophy adept example where duty to respect can conflict other moral duties is the application of Kants guess about animal rights. Kantian moral ism asserts that animals argon mere instruments, which may be used for human purpose (Korsgaard 3). harmonise Korsgaard, Kants point of view about legal rights is not to comfort human interests, but to enable each citizen to act justly and for what is good. Kants moral philosophy underlines that non-rational animals lack the kind of freedom that rights protect. In particular, it is because human b eings are rational beings that they are able to choose how they want to live (5). However, Kants philosophy extends the rights held by human beings to include property rights. According to Kant we keep up the moral obligation to claim property including animals, and the legal status of such animals is the direct correlate of their moral status as mere means (instruments) (5). Further, according to Kant, we have no moral duty to animals. In contrast, biocentrism upholds the need to make moral consideration towards non-human species. From this perspective, the conflict mingled with Kants moral philosophy and the duty to respect nature as maintained by non-anthropocentric ethical position remains apparent with regard to animal rights. To resolve the conflict between Kants theory and biocentrism regarding animal rights, it is important to address the interpretation problems associated with the existence formula. This is especially because faced with such a situation would require one to decide to follow the humanity formulary as applied by Kant or to stick with the rationality formulary defined in biocentrism. Libertarianism Another example of a conflict between non-anthropocentric ethical position about duty to respect nature and other moral duties is the issue of forest justice as seen in the lenses of libertarianism. According to libertarianism, forests and thus biodiversity, has value only to the extent that it contributes to the expansion of individual freedom (Holsinka 3). The forest justice can be illustrated by attempts by governments to transfer property rights to local anesthetic communities to enable them benefit from forest resources. In anthropocentric ethical philosophy, human beings are viewed as separate identities based on self-interest and altruistic humanism. According to Kopnina, anthropocentrism grants intrinsic value to human beings. On the other hand, biocentrism emphasizes on the intrinsic value for ecosystems including humans, plant an d animal species. This disconnect represents a broader inconsistency deep down the fields of environmental conservation. The main concern is that support for environmental conservation appears to be motivated by utilitarian and instrumental ethics. Just like biodiversity, we place value on forests because we think we might need it, we like it or we ought to. Non-anthropocentric ethical position would emphasize on the instrumental value of forests-that

Many people are accepting the challenge of taking care of other people as a vocation, and not just something that offers a pay check at the end of every month. Truth of the matter is, not everyone gets the pay check at the end of the month (The Careers Group, 2010). In conclusion, the hunt for jobs in the health care environment is getting more competitive. Immigration from Iraq Because of Religion Assignment

Immigration from Iraq Because of Religion - Assignment ExampleChristians used to account for about 4% of the state but their numbers dramatically dwindled after the US invasion of the nation in 2003 (Chanaa 15). Currently, the proportion of Iraqi Christian immigrants has significantly increased owing to a number of political and social factors. First, Iraq has always given Christians a minority status in which they feel as though they are second trend citizens who are vulnerable to injustices at any time. Furthermore, the law has historically minimised their ability to express themselves freely in the nation even though this has often been clothed by constitutional provisions that claim to respect the freedom of conscience (Salloum 60). In the political arena, Christians are scarcely afforded the right to become leaders in government, security organs or the military. Such institutional discrimination has ensured that Christians in this nation lack the ability to become influential in their society, so a number of them now have an even greater impetus to leave Iraq. What are the legal and the social standing of women in the early 1800s Essay

What are the legal and the social standing of women in the previous(predicate) 1800s - Essay ExampleThis paper will discuss the legal and the social status that women had during the period of 18th century, especially focusing on the early days of the century. Body The status of women during the 18th century can clearly be understood through the theory of power, dominant and non-dominant class of George M. Fredrickson (Fredrickson, n.d.). According to Fredrickson there is a dominant group that owns and controls all the rights and they do not offer these rights to other individuals of the society and this group thinks that they are superior to other individuals of the society. Similarly women during the 1800s and before were accept as weak by men as men were the people who formed the elite group and represented the dominant class. During the 1800s men worked in jobs where they were the producers of goods and service and women and their children stayed home. During the 1800s century, the myth was that women were weaker as compared to men and did not have the ability to conduct work that required intellectual and muscular power. This created a view that working in organizations was very hard and the role could only be conducted by women. During this period, the domestic chores such as taking care of home and making food were delegate to women and men were involved in labor that required both mental and physical fitness such as hunting and plowing. (Welter, 1996). The task that women conducted was quite threatening in nature but they were not realized as tasks that require strong physical and mental health. The main task that a woman had during the nineteenth century was giving birth to a child and they used to remain busy in this task for quite a long period of time. In the 1800s the majority of the population of America shared a belief that women were inclined towards religion and they were thought of as individuals who would work with God and will ensure that the ground is free of evil through their love which was categorized as pure and full of passion and suffering. Religion was found to be the best associate of women as they could easily practice it within the boundary lines of their homes. No woman was allowed to stand against or not practice religion and those females who did so were treated in a negative manner. Women were highly regarded for their purity and sex before marriage was seen as a curse and an illegal form of activity. According to Thomas Jeffersons supposition of cultural assimilation those who had less power and rights should accept the norms and cultural values of those who were dominant in society. Thomas Jeffersons theory of assimilation can be applied to the men and women of the 1800s. This is because men had more resources and they were the dominant ones, so the women who had fewer rights and were the non-dominant ones had to accept what their husbands had to give to them and comply with the demands of the hus bands of that period. During the early period of the 19th century women point had an inferior status according to law. Those females who were used to give up own identity and all the assets owned were transferred within the control of their husbands. The US law was yet based on the idea that man had similar ownership over his wife and children as ownership of property. Fathers used to make decisions and law directed women to conform their husbands decision. Later during the 1830s and the 1840s certain changes to law were made. One such law was the Equity law that focused on giving equal rights to men and women. During the era of 1839, a woman legally had a right to sue her husband and

History - Essay ExampleDiscovery of the New domain by Christopher Columbus also made people enquiry existing view of geography by Ptolemy (the world is flat). These discoveries spawned a scientific revolution as it spurred new questions to be asked. There was much resistivity to new discoveries because the people were skeptical of these discoveries and would rather stick with their old beliefs. But perhaps more importantly, resistance came from the Catholic Church because ideas from the scientific revolution challenged their hold on the masses by using faith and superstition. In other words, scientific discoveries threatened the social, economic, and governmental order based on religion, as Christianity was often the central coherent ideology in many European societies. The people would naturally tend to question the authority of the Church because there were now being offered scientific explanations based on reason and logic for many natural phenomena like lightning (just a reco il of electricity) and not an act of God. The scientific studies by Copernicus in 1543 theorized the Sun to be the center of the solar system and not the Earth as had previously been taught. This collision departure from past beliefs made people realize not to accept dogma as truth anymore science started to challenge the many ideas of religion. The Servant Leadership Essay Example for Free

The Servant Leadership EssayWhat does servant leadership mean to you, and how can you practice servant leadership in your college community? In my own humble view, servant leadership may be defined as a person who lives in the service of others even up as he strives to lead them towards the fulfillment of certain objectives and goals. A servant leader is usually embodied in a person who epitomizes the 10 principles of servant leadership as listed by Larry Spears of Greenleaf Center. These 10 principles are listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of people, and lastly, building community. I believe that since I am a gay opus living in a homophobic world, I exit be able to use and develop the aforementioned skills that I know I possess, in my quest to help the homosexual community. I can help them learn how to gain social and personal acceptance in the world just as I did. We live in a world that c laims to be accepting and tolerating of the third sex. With all the various cause oriented groups and gay rights advocate drift that abound, this would certainly seem to ring true. But the truth of the matter is that the world is still homophobic of people that they deem to be different from what is traditionally hardened to be expression. This is why I want to be a servant leader in my college community. I testament perform it my personal crusade to tell that the gay and heterosexual communities in my future college will learn how to co-exist in peace through my example. As a servant leader, I will specify it my personal duty to listen to the heterosexuals and explain to them about where my fellow gay people are coming from. I will empathize with both parties and make sure that they will listen and understand the reality of a homosexual life and why we are just like any other normal people. These things have to be accomplished in order to heal the wounds caused by decades of sexual ignorance and bigotry. A servant leader must always be self- splendor aware and generally aware of his surroundings. It is also my duty to insure that my fellow students and servant leaders are aware of important matters that will be of importance to our organization and community and insure that these are dealt with speedily and accordingly. I plan to serve my college community by using my foresight and skills in conceptualizing and creating relevant activities that will foster camaraderie amongst all the students and faculty on campus. I will insure that everyone participating in the activity will be very stinging on helping develop the personal, professional, and spiritual growth of each participant. Such activities can be in the form of fundraisers, sports and music festivals, as well as other activities as suggested by the organization members. The reality if the situation is that servant leaders, most specially those who begin in their local community college or corpor ations select the future of human lives in their hands. As a servant leader, I have the ability to shape the world and affect the lives of the people around me in a highly positive manner. In a way, a servant leader is in charge of building a community that can co-exist disregarding of differing beliefs and perceptions. What is important is that I will be given a chance to lay the groundwork for a strong community composed of cooperative heterosexuals and homosexuals that will serve as the model organization for the others in my college community.
